ready for today!
Goodbye, old friend.
You were my first real camera. You taught me everything I know. You taught me about shutter speed, aperture, ISO, how to manually focus, how to exhale slowly as I pushed down the shutter for a smooth shot.
I remember photographing my first real girlfriend with you, just as she was waking up, hazy morning light pouring through the windows.
I remember getting wine drunk at the Flat Creek Vineyards in central Texas with you and my friends one gorgeous afternoon and feeling like I was living in a dream.
I remember doing my first proper model shoot— with Lindsey, who subsequently became one of my closest friends — with you and you alone.
I remember getting lost in the woods with C shortly after taking this photo of her with you, knowing in the pit of my stomach that she was going to break up with me sooner rather than later.
You taught me the joy of double exposures, you showed me the paradoxical beauty in hastily scanned film, and you charmed me with your elegant purview.
You’re off to greener pastures now, with someone who I know will appreciate you as much as I did, who can afford to keep you going until the apocalypse, and even then I know you’ll survive that because you’re built like a goddamn tank.
Thank you for all of the memories; I loved it all. I know I’m gonna miss the hell outta you. I already have tears building up in my eyes. Stay safe and show them what you’re made of out there!
